The V-8HD seamlessly mixes eight HDMI sources with Full HD support, even when the sources have mismatched frame rates and color spaces. And with the built-in scalers on two of the HDMI inputs, you can easily interface with client-provided sources like computers, tablets, smartphones, gaming consoles, and legacy 4:3 devices

Set Up Layers, Effects, and Keys
Video effects, layers, and graphics add polish and excitement to any production. With the V-8HD’s newly updated chroma key engine and upgraded keyer algorithms, you’ll always keep audiences engaged with visually appealing content. Prepare the content according to client specifications and separate it into layers:
Layer 1 and 2: Start by creating a basic background setup for mixing between two sources.
Layer 3 and 4: Drop in two picture-in-picture layers with chroma and luminance effects.
Layer 5: Add one downstream keyer layer with chroma, luminance, and alpha effects or external fill and key inputs.
 

Professional Graphics Made Easy
The Graphics Presenter software for Windows allows you to create stunning titles and graphics without the need for expensive third-party graphic presentation solutions. Setup with the V-8HD is quick and straightforward, requiring only a single HDMI connection to send fill and key signals from the computer to the switcher.
 
Graphics Presenter offers an intuitive workflow with a wide selection of ready-to-edit templates, including animated title text, sports scores, motion graphics, and more. The software and templates are available free of charge, and additional content is periodically provided for download on Roland Cloud.

With the V-8HD, storing and recalling unique looks requires only a few button presses.
 
The 24 preset memories and powerful composition effects engine work together to provide a completely seamless load between different looks, including synchronizing the transition of all effect layers on and off at the Program output.
The 100 macros go even deeper, allowing you to build and trigger complex action lists that include switching, DSK on/off, audio mixing adjustments, and much more.
Our free remote control software for iPad further enhances this workflow, providing a large graphical interface for setting up and previewing actions before you take them live.
 
One-Touch Automation
The V-8HD’s newly developed sequencer makes presets and macros even more powerful, allowing a single operator to execute perfectly timed cues with ease. Up to 1000 steps can be recorded in the sequencer, and each step can include both presets and macros. Simply set up your cues ahead of time in the sequence list and trigger them in order by pressing a button on the panel. With the power of the V-8HD’s sequencer, you can tackle the most complex events without ever breaking a sweat.
 

Separate Feeds for Separate Needs
Presenter confidence monitors, livestreams, and recording feeds often require different visual content from the main program output. The V-8HD has you covered with assignment buttons for sending any of your connected input devices to a dedicated aux output without affecting the main feed. It’s also possible to synchronize the aux output with the program output, giving you a built-in 2x distribution amp. And by adding the UVC-01 USB Video Capture interface, you have a plug-and-play solution for sending video and audio to computer-based streaming platforms, from Facebook Live, YouTube, Twitch, and Zoom to OBS Studio, StreamYard, and other advanced workflows.
 

Built-In Multi-Viewer Display
The V-8HD’s bright, 4.3-inch multi-viewer display means less gear to buy and haul to the gig. You can monitor all eight video inputs, PGM, and PVW plus menu overlay from a single screen, and input windows allow you to keep track of camcorder recording status and embedded audio levels. If you prefer, it’s possible to connect a large external display for an immense multi-viewer experience that lets you make menu changes without moving your focus from the action.

 
Audio and Effects
A crystal-clear sound mix is essential for professional presentations. That’s easy to achieve with the V-8HD, which allows pros and beginners alike to create engaging mixes that sound great. The studio-grade, 18-channel audio mixer blends signals from the eight HDMI inputs and stereo RCA inputs, while a feature-packed preset effects library provides setups for everyday production environments like meetings and interviews, plus challenging situations that require wind noise reduction and microphone de-essing. Delay is also available on every input channel, so your audio and video sources will always be in perfect sync.
 

Automated Video Switching
The V-8HD makes your job easier with three technology assisted automatic switching modes. Input Scan switches input sources randomly or in sequence, while Preset Memory Scan switches between preset memories. BPM (beats per minute) sync is also available, automatically switching Preview and Program at a specified tempo for tight synchronization with musical cues.
 

Record Triggering and Confirmation
Many technical elements contribute to a successful recording. But forgetting to hit the record button means the difference between getting paid for the job or not. Via HDMI, the V-8HD operator can trigger Atomos recorders to start and stop recording. Some camcorders even display a recording confirmation icon on the input channel of the V-8HD's multi-viewer screen, letting you keep an eye on the recording status while staying focused on other critical tasks.

The dedicated V-8HD remote control app turns an iPad into an efficient touch interface for the V-8HD. Run essential switching functions, mix audio with virtual faders, change settings and effect parameters quickly, and create up to 24 custom scenes for fast, efficient setup changes.

With the V-8HD RCS application for macOS and Windows, you can control nearly all V-8HD functions remotely from your computer via a USB connection.
 

Hands-Free Switching and Control
Stomp on a BOSS single or double footswitch to execute over 100 different switcher commands. Cut to a still image, transition PIP on/off the screen, or drop in a keyed lower third title. It’s also possible to switch the aux output between presenter notes and stage manager messages, turn automatic switching mode on/off, and much more.
